Zug Izland Update: New Album + Interview

What’s up ninjas! I had the pleasure of attending a very special one-off show by Zug Izland a couple of weeks back in Walsall England!

The event itself was organised by a Juggalo couple (shout out Bob and Jade!) who are friends with the band and took it upon themselves to raise funds and organise a dope-ass show across the pond! The venue for this show would be ‘Eerie Ink’; a tattoo parlour in the town of Walsall with a small concert venue out back. The setting was dope as fuck and much better than I expected when I first heard the show was taking place at a tattoo shop! Followers of our FB page may have caught my walkthrough of the venue to get an idea of the setting. The show was off the hook and each of the four local openers put it down with authority, before Zug Izland took the stage and brought big cheesy grins to many a Juggalo face.

The next day I was able to sit down with the band and scoop a video interview where they talk about putting out their own projects (not with Psychopathic Records), touching on topics such as Violent J’s statements in the new audio book, their Toxicology album being a “mistake”, touring, and confirming that they WILL be at the Gathering next year! Peep that out below:-

In a strange twist of fate, the event also happened to coincide with the release of their long-awaited new album ‘The Promised Land / Nebula’, which was available to purchase as physical copies for those who attended the show. After such a long gap since we heard any new Zug material, I have to say that I’m loving the new tracks on the album and can’t wait for the follow-up release(s)!

As a UK native, I can tell you that it’s a rare treat to have a group of Juggalos gather and fill the crowd for a show. We get the likes of Tech N9ne, Necro, Ill Bill, Vinnie Paz, Hopsin and others who roll through every now and again, but at those shows you’re never gonna have the crowd being 100% Juggalo’s and so this eventw will stand out in particular in my memory for that reason. Much love to the organisers and to Zug Izland for flying out and putting on such a cool show!
