Twiztid: Abominationz Tour Review and Photos

Headed over to Des Moines for the Abominationz Tour’s 2nd Leg.  Snagged up some locals and headed directly to Zombie Burger to eat some epic zombie themed food before the show.   I keep trying to get artist in there, with no luck!  Hoodie it up and check it out.

Walked over to the Venue with a full belly (add a fried egg to my burger please, #fatkid) – Wooly’s is a new one for me, not sure I have ever dealt with that promoter either.  As always a hassle getting in the door with a camera.  A text to Twiztid’s Team and a text to Potluck’s Team, and a couple of conversations with Potluck’s crew and I was in…  In, but no access to photo pit…  I missed 90% of the only non-tour act “Corpse” while 1Ton from Potluck and the Promoter had some choice words about things.  Was then allowed photo access for Potluck’s set only… This is a typical start of a show when it comes to taking pictures. Finally everything is worked out (Thank you George and James). The usual first 3 songs of each set I am allowed to shoot.  This happened just in time for Liquid Assassin’s Set to start.

Now on to the good stuff. Every act on the tour really leads right into the next, there was no stale performances that left you thinking, why in the fuck did that group get to perform.  This makes for a much better show. This tour is by far the best I have seen in YEARS!  If you missed this tour when it came through your area.  YOU FUCKED UP!  YOU FUCKED UP! YOU FUCKED UP!

LA’s set was similar to last time I seen him,  however he has a fast flow and very clean sound, a pleasure to listen to and a live performance that builds you up, and gets you excited.  Songs with meaning mixed with tracks to get the crowd involved.

Lighting in most small venues is a pain to get used to – however a full gallery of photos is at the bottom of this review, including all artists, as well as crowd, merch, and much more.

Potluck is another act I have caught probably 4-5 times in the last year or so just due to their tour schedule as well as mine and who they had been touring with and the gathering… I have to say though Either Des Moines lit a fire under the artists asses this night, or something magic about this tour. No joke, this tour is getting amazing reviews.  They put on the best live performance I have ever seen from them.  Much more energy behind both Underrated and 1 Ton.  The crowd felt it and got hype during all the fan favorites as well as when Underrated ripped into the Choppers beat. Although I didn’t get much in the way of artist access, I was able to ask Underrated about their Gathering of the Juggalos Status. They have not heard anything – however are down as always. Welcome to the movement!

Pictures of all the Merchandise can be seen down in the gallery – I got a chance to check out the new Twiztid Merch that you can get over at http://www.twiztid-shop.com/ High Quality stuff, if I wasn’t a broke as scrub I would of snagged up that Green Hockey Jersey for me, and a skate deck to give away on the site. Everything looked great, well put together.

Hed PE has been one of my favorite acts to see live for years – Punx Not Dead! As long as they tour I will keep catching them perform – never miss a set at the gathering (was that 4am in 2011?). They bring everything to every performance, with a huge message the can not be repeated enough, and hard ripping chords. They took the stage and Jahred led the crowd through the punk and funk infused tracks to share some Higher Education! I have never seen a crowd not amped up during a Hed PE set! Going from Potluck to Hed PE was a smooth transition most would not grasp due to the differing music styles, the night just kept building up, and it all mixed perfectly.

Psychopathic Records sent me a copy of Abominationz – After the first listen, it was clear. Something had changed. Easily my favorite work they have ever done.  Twiztid had evolved, into something much better.  Not only lyrically and vocals, but the whole project was awesome.  I was so looking forward to seeing some videos, as this was the best thing to come out on the label in quite some time in my opinion.  Then all kinds of things where up in the air, speculation, etc etc.   I wasn’t sure how their set was gonna go, what to expect.  I didn’t pump anyone for information, had not read anything about the 1st leg of the tour.  They had just missed the past two nights on the tour due to illness, plus its hard to forget that gathering performance a few years back right??

Not only was Abominationz their best work, this tour is their best tour – and by far the best live performance I have ever seen them do.  If I could pull a Fatal Frankie – (Damn Jamie with the shout out during the show, now this…) and hit this tour in 3-4 towns. I would be all over it.  I’d like to catch it without trying to capture moments, or wonder how the hell can I explain how fucking amazing it was.  3rd Leg, with a swing through Iowa again!  Lets make it happen!!

#notfatkid Jamie – with a huge show. A healthy Madrox is a good thing, I am not sure that he could of moved around more if he was actually on fire!  Actually fucked up quite a few of my shots with how fast he was moving!  Loved it.  The sweat, drive, and animation was electric!  Keep it up brother!

Monoxide ripping into his Abominationz versus. Epic. Coming off being sick the past couple days – It sounded spot on.

The set list was a perfect mix with the tracks we all love from the past, and the beastly new tracks from Amobinationz.  They clearly enjoyed themselves in Des Moines, and you are gravely missing out if you miss any upcoming show in your area.   I was not part of the VIP package, nor did I get to shoot during it like on some Psychopathic Tours – however from those I talked to it was well worth it.  I did not have access to the guys at all.

Would of loved to talked to them about that Close to April Fools day Mix Tape Cover Twitter Pic – and then get into the actual upcoming Mix Tape a little bit.  Specially getting into who would be producing it. If we could expect to see Abominationz Producer: Michael “Seven” Summers since he killed it on that project.  As well as what the Juggalos can expect at this years gathering.  BACON SUIT!?!?!  Or if there have been any changes as far as gathering plans go.  Who can forget – Movie Details… spill them!!

In closing, huge thanks to everyone in the Potluck/Subnoize Crew. To George and the entire Twiztid Team, to Hed PE, to all the cool ass Des Moines locals, and to all of the Juggalo News Readers!
