As previously reported, everyone’s favourite Detroit-based, face-painted, religiously revered rap duo Insane Clown Posse are launching a Canadian version of the Gathering. Simply called the Canadian Juggalo Weekend, the whoop whoop-up will take place in Calgary this spring. To promote the event, ICP have shared a special new promotional video with Exclaim!
The clip sees ICP members Shaggy 2 Dope and Violent J get excessively hyped about their trip to the Stampede Corral on April 7 and 8. Watch the video below.
They also drop some big news — they’ll be bringing the entire Psychopathic Records roster with them on the tour. Yes, that includes appearances from DJ Clay, Blahzay Roze, LYTE, Big Hoodoo and DJ Carlito. The crew was extremely excited about the announcement — so much so, that they all offered us exclusive statements about the trek.
“This will be my first time performing for the Juggalos outside the States, and it means more to me that I can possibly explain,” DJ Clay tells Exclaim! “Juggalos from all over the world come to the Gathering each year and ask me when I’m going to visit their country, and I can never give them a definitive answer … until now! To be a part of Canadian Juggalo Weekend is a huge highlight for me in 2017 and a big marker in my life. Canada fam, I will see you soon!”
DJ Carlito adds, “I’m very thankful to be apart of the history-making first ever Juggalo Weekend, Canadian Style! Canadian Juggalos have waited patiently for us to come and give them their own special weekend. As a music fan I am excited to be rocking one of my favourite countries where some of my favourite artists came out of including Rush, Triumph, Alanis Morissette and others. This will be my first time performing in the Great White North, and I am looking forward to rocking with my Canadian Juggalo family!”
LYTE, meanwhile, says, “I’m super hype about it. Because this is my first time performing in Canada and going out of the country so it really means a lot to me. It’s also a major accomplishment to myself, performing outside the U.S., and I’m looking forward to gettin’ it in with all the Canadian Juggalos that support me, that can’t make it to shows in America. See you soon Canada!”
For Blahzay Roze, the fest is an opportunity to make up for a missed opportunity: “In 2016, I had the pleasure of accompanying the Insane Clown Posse on their Canadian tour but didn’t get a chance to perform. Now I finally get to perform for my beautiful Canadian Juggalo Family, and it’s an honour and a total dream come true! Whoop whoop!”
Finally, Big Hoodoo says, “It’s an honour to come rep for the family, my label, and all Juggalos, I love Canada and can’t wait to bring that Hoodoo Blessing to the Canadian Juggalo Weekend!”
